But in America, 2026 is something altogether neater. It is the 250th anniversary of our great country, and many of us intend to celebrate by firing oodles of 22 LR ammunition.
Does that describe you to a perfect T? Then you’re going to want to get a load of Remington’s extremely limited edition We The People ammunition, which will only be produced during America’s sestercentennial!
Remington usually markets this ammunition under their Yellow Jacket label. It is an ultra-high-velocity cartridge, with the miniscule 33 grain bullet it needs to attain muzzle velocity 375 fps higher than the speed of sound. If it hits its advertised MV (which requires a rifle), the 0.095 G1 BC bullet’s ballistic performance will look something akin to this:
0yds: 1,500 fps | 165 ft lbs | -1.5”
25yds: 1,348 fps | 133 ft lbs | 0.3”
50yds: 1,220 fps | 109 ft lbs | 0.9”
75yds: 1,119 fps | 92 ft lbs | 0.0”
100yds: 1,043 fps | 80 ft lbs | -2.6”
125yds: 986 fps | 71 ft lbs | -7.2”
150yds: 939 fps | 65 ft lbs | -14.0”
The bullet’s not just light. It is plated in copper to help slow down the rate of barrel fouling. It possesses a truncated cone profile (i.e. shaped like a party hat with its tip cut off, revealing a flat meplat) which feeds like a dream and penetrates soft tissue effectively. It also has the hollow point it needs to bowl over small game with terminal expansion. You can pretend the squirrels are little British soldiers who have come to unfairly tax your tea and paper goods.
