Not all 22 LR cartridges are created equal. When you just want to shoot some cans, you can get along with most anything. But when you want quiet ignition, extreme accuracy, and crushing terminal performance for serious target practice and rodent elimination, you want Eley Subsonic 22 LR. You can even use it to shoot cans!

This round features a 38 grain hollow point bullet. Its deep nose cavity is engineered to wallop small targets with massive stopping power, making full use of a 22’s admittedly limited energy in the process. The bullet is lubricated with paraffin wax – a non-greasy substance that measurably reduces lead fouling of the barrel and supports smooth feeding in a semi-auto, and which is also effective under all weather conditions.

This handy round is even better for covert operations against squirrels because of its subsonic muzzle velocity. Limited to a velocity of 1,040 fps, this round is unable to make the kind of supersonic crack that might upset your neighbors. Eley’s primer and propellant are both precisely matched to deliver that consistently subsonic muzzle velocity, and their straight-walled brass case promotes smooth feeding just like their bullet’s paraffin wax.
