The secret to this round’s great accuracy is right in its name. This is a subsonic load, with a 1,050 fps muzzle velocity that falls 75 fps short of breaking the sound barrier. The cartridge is going to produce a fairly quiet report. Better yet, its 40 grain bullet cannot develop a wobble by transferring from supersonic to subsonic velocity – it was never supersonic in the first place!
The CPHP bullet’s copper plating does even more to promote good accuracy, as it is able to deposit less lead residue on the rifling (and suppressor baffles, if present) than an LHP or LRN. When the CPHP makes contact with a hapless small varmint, its hollow point nose cavity commences deadly terminal expansion.
This ammo may not reliably cycle a semi-automatic firearm. Its muzzle velocity will also become even slower if fired in a pistol. Remington rimfire ammo is non-corrosive and American-made.
