Some low-velocity 22 LR rounds have heavier bullets than normal. This isn’t one of them. Its 40 grain projectile is just backed by a weaker propellant charge, which is why it won’t exit a rifle barrel faster than around 1,050 fps (75 fps slower than the speed of sound). No supersonic muzzle velocity means no miniature sonic boom on ignition. With a suppressor, you’re going to witness truly quiet reports.
This round’s bullet is copper plated to protect suppressor baffles and ports against lead. It also ends in the hollow point it needs to deliver terminal expansion. There are deadlier 22 LR hunting loads out there, but none are as silent as Remington Subsonic!
