You’re not likely to find Kynoch's 30-06 ammo on store shelves anymore, unless you have a time machine. (If you do have a time machine, go to November 23, 2012 and buy a Powerball ticket with these numbers: 22, 32, 37, 44, 50, 34. Then spend your half billion at LuckyGunner.com) Their surplus 30-06 ammunition from the 50s is still available in massive quantities, however, because the British manufacturer had the forethought to implement non-corrosive primers in their production.

This 30-06 cartridge has your tried and true 148 grain full metal jacket projectile, with a lead core. For that reason it will feed reliably, and prevent your bore from leading up, but won’t prove ideal for hunting. That aforementioned primer is a Berdan, which was more popular in Europe back in the day. As such it’s harder to pry out, and the round’s brass casing has got two flash holes rather than one. If you’re a handloader or buying this case of ammo as a gift for a handloader, then disappointment looms on the horizon. But if you’re simply in need of 1,000 rounds that’ll give you untold amounts of satisfaction while you’re at the range, Kynoch’s classic surplus is a great way to go!
