Now in a 50 round box, Remington's signature Golden Saber self defense load for 40 Smith & Wesson. This 165 grain jacketed hollow point has a reputation for excellent weight retention, pinpoint accuracy, and the expansion is above the median for 40 S&W hollow point ammo tested by Lucky Gunner. Each Golden Saber projectile is cased in nickel-plated brass charged with Boxer-primers and a special powder combination that is designed to reduce muzzle flash, as many law enforcement and home defense situations can occur at night. Remington Golden Saber ammunition is time-tested, tried, and true.

This 165 grain version fires at a muzzle velocity of 1150 f/s out of a 4" SAAMI test barrel. The increase in velocity leads to deeper penetration than the heavier 180 gr variant. After famed self-defense expert and firearm innovator Jeff Cooper developed the first 40 cal diameter round for handguns, the 10mm, the handgun world was desperate for a round that could perform as well as the original 10mm design without the intense recoil. That paved the way for the 40 S&W. The lighter 165 grain bullet brings the velocity of the round up nearer to the initial 10mm velocities, and more innovation went into developing self defense rounds for the 40 S&W after the widespread adoption of the pistols.
