This cartridge is loaded with a 180 grain bullet, which many claim to be the superior .40 cal bullet weight for defense. Regardless of your preference, you’ll agree that the brass jacketed hollow point is a bullet that gets things done. It is armored in brass to prevent fragmentation, as well as deformation until it has already penetrated a significant depth through soft tissue. At that point, the BJHP’s spiral-cut serrations ensure that it fans out widely and energetically.
These cartridges are built to last. Their primers? Sealed. Their case mouths? Ditto. And the cases themselves are plated in nickel to protect their brass against oxidation. Nickel smooths out cycling, too!
Bright light blinds you in the dark – and being blind isn’t particularly helpful when someone is trying to end you. Remington appreciates this very much, which is why they load these rounds with propellant that is specifically designed to minimize flash.
