I carry a full size striker fired .45 acp with a 4 lb trigger and no creep. I'm a smallish male 5' 7" and I cut my teeth shooting Colts for the Air Force pistol team back in the late 60's -early 70's. The .45 acp has gotten a bad rap in years past for lack of accuracy. Nothing could be further from the facts. The Marines we shot against could consistently punch the 1" X ring out on the 50 yard slow far course and 25 yard timed and rapid fire round. We AF guys couldn't beat them but the experience made me a .45 man from that time forward. Speer Gold Dot is top of the line for performance and reliability.

LCP Carry Ammo

Runs dead nuts reliable in my original model LCP. Tests show good expansion but lower than ideal penetration. Can’t have it all from baby guns!
Normally carry something a bit bigger, but this combo will due for what it is. Big plus being able to order 50 round boxes at a great price!

Yes a vastly underrated cartridge, It is for it size and class a outstanding defensive/hunting round that does everything better than the 9mm and is the equal of the .357 S&W in the 125 gr. defense cartridge.

Excellent performance and penatration into and out of a 14 lb fozen turkey from grocery store. Huge cavities made thru all the way thru turkey at 20 yards. Love the nickel plated rounds. Easy to locate if drop on ground outside. Perfect round for home defense are carried. Very expensive, but so am I and family members!!

Strange Test Results

I've purchased Speer Gold Dot 40 S&W 165 Grain 53970 and had performance as shown on the box. This strange set of Speer test results would make sense if Lucky Gunner test fired Speer Gold Dot 40 S&W 165 Grain 53949 or 23549 and instead erroneously assigned the test results to 23970 &/or 53970 product codes. Mas Ayoob nicknamed 40 S&W 165 grain rounds with reduced velocity, and poor performance, as "Minus P" cartridges for a reason, he noted reports of poor street performance. So if you purchase 23970 &/or 53970 product codes you should see much better performance than is reported here. You can see in the Q&A many others finding this LG test data incongruent for the product code listed.
