Speer Ammunition was started in 1943 by a shooter himself who was frustrated by the lack of reloading components supply available for himself and his fellow gunman. Speer Ammo claims to understand the ammunition needs of shooters because Speer Ammo is comprised of shooters who know what works and what doesn't work.
Perhaps Speer Ammo is best known for their Lawman line of ammo which is very popular on LuckyGunner.com. Lawman was debuted over 35 years ago and has earned a reputation of being a high-performance and reliable product. Speer's Lawman brand is competitively priced and made up of reloadable cases, clean-burning propellants and reliable CCI primers!
Speer Ammunition is manufactured in Lewistown, Idaho.

Excellent choice for training ammo
Review by FlyFisher
I did an advance tactical handgun training clay with this ammo this weekend. 750 rounds shot. Not a single failure. Minimal residue every time I have used this ammo. Probably shot 5000 rounds with no failure in the last 6 months. Highly recommended.

Bought it and, you won’t find a better deal
Review by Cteas70
This is contract over run ammo. I have fired close to a thousand rounds, and every one went bang in my cz. My guess is that it is over run from the FBI contract. In my opinion, it is the stuff we pay $22 for for 20 rounds of bonded hollow points. Maybe be I am wrong, but I have put another 350 rnds of the French National police order. Not one hiccup there either. That was 124gr plus P. I am using it for steel challenge and USPSA, so I have been going through a lot of ammo lately. The guys told me to drop them he plus P.

Very powerful and great performance!
Review by Gun Sam
I have tested this ammunition in my LCR 1.875" and it did quite well. I have a Youtube channel where I test ammunition for velocity as well as ballistic performance through my test medium (4 layers of denim followed by 1.75" bologna followed by 1/4" medium density fiber board followed by 6 water jugs).
The 5 shot average velocity from the LCR at 12 feet from the muzzle was 1,398 FPS for 434 ft lbs energy. The damage to the bologna pack was right on par with the Gold Dot .357 Mag 135 gr short barrel I tested from a 2" barrel. The penetration was hitting the back of the 3rd water jug which is exactly how far all perfect performing ammunition penetrates to (equivalent to 15" in ballistic gel) and the bullet expanded to .537" with no loss of retained weight or fragmentation. It did quite well and was really impressive.
The only down side I found (which is probably why it's not loaded in nickel plated cases) is that the brass expanded a lot more than .357 Magnum, so case extraction was a tad more difficult than normal, but not bad enough to be a deal breaker. It's overall pretty effective .327 Federal Magnum ammunition.

Excellent Range Ammo
Review by Tank
Use this in my Glock 23, which is primarily a range toy and backup home defense weapon. Load it with 155gr Speer Gold Dot when carrying for defense, so like to keep my range ammo ballistically matched. This stuff is pretty warm, and definitely feels exactly the same as the GDHP rounds. Shoots very clean. Well worth the cost, and glad they're in stock at Lucky Gunner because my local range never keeps this grain bullet in stock in any brand with .40S&W - Thanks Again Lucky Gunner!

Lucky lists this as match ammo even I don’t think Speer claims it to be, yet I agree. Although I’m a fairly new shooter, I have shot the tightest groups so far out of my Walther Q5 with the Speer clean fire. Whether that’s the ammo being more accurate or just the characteristics of it making me a a better shooter I don’t know, but like it! And it definitely is clean. No puff of smoke when firing like typical FMJ ammo and noticeably less debris in the gun after a couple hundred rounds. Very happy with the performance and I don’t mind paying a bit extra to limit my lead exposure.

Speer Lawman 380 Auto -95 Grain
Review by DW
I purchased a new Kimber Micro 380 and I wanted to run some ammo through the gun for obvious reasons. I purchased the ammo and have been very pleased. All of the ammo appears to be well made and all fired with out issues as well. Price as more than fair for a 380 round. Shipping was fast and updates were given. Overall very pleased and will buy again.

Fantastic ammo. +p and ran very well in my Ruger 1911
Review by pilot
I primarily use this for hiking and camping predator defense. 200 grn tmj +P will stop a black bear with no problem. I live in Virginia so no worries about Grizzly or very large animals in my area. It penetrates thick Hyde and bone very easily. It does not expand, but it will destroy bone and muscle. This is just the right combination of weight and velocity for maxing the .45 acp. for defense form cougars and bear up to 400 lbs, I was getting an honest 1050 to 1120 FPS AND 480 ft LBS at the range . I hope that Speer continues to make this round .

Personally Cannot Recommend for Glock 42
Review by Jon
I want to love this round, I really do. Per the Lucky Gunner Labs, this round provides excellent expansion with middling penetration for the caliber, which would be just fine for me. However, I experienced four FTFs in 50 rounds out of a broken-in Glock 42 with this cartridge. I believe it's the big, soft, ashtray-shaped hollowpoint that causes the trouble. Have now switched to Hornady Critical Defense for carry, with zero failures in 50 rounds one-handed/weak-handed (75 rounds total) so far. Otherwise, flawless Speer quality, and Lucky Gunner is fabs and marvy as always!

Good Training Option for Hotter SD Ammo
Review by Jon
I have a couple thousand rounds of these through various Glocks, S&W M&P's, and Springfield XD's with flawless performance. As Chris's video states, these are a good option for matching the felt recoil of hotter self defense ammunition. Clean burning, low muzzle flash, and a fully encapsulated bullet to minimize lead exposure. Top training choice!

Quality 380 Auto for Practice
Review by Jon
I have been pleased with this ammo so far. Only one FTF in 700 rounds, and I chalk that up to a limp-wrist from an inexperienced shooter. This is not a "hot" training option like Speer's 115gr TMJ Lawman in 9mm and burns a little bit dirty, but it seems to be well made. Also, the fully encased bullet minimizes lead exposure, especially at indoor ranges.

Failures with the p938
Review by Ryan
Bought 50 rounds to test for defence ammo.
*Put about 27 rounds through my Sig p938 and stopped testing after it failed to feed for the fourth time.
*Fired the rest from a p365 with no failures.
Pretty disappointed by what appeared to be a great round. Back to the drawing board I guess.

This heavier grain ammo is perfect for 1/7 twist AR barrels. Plus Speer Gold Dots are industry standards, perform great.
