I want to include the pictures that I had taken but I don't seem to have that feature on this site.
Anyway... I suppose it *could* be the steel casing that the bullet in shrouded in but I find it unlikely. Any case, it frequently fails to push the next round up. They jam up in the magazine. I fired off a few .300 rounds like normal and then "click" nothing! I tried to charge another round but nothing ejected. Odd? I put the rifle on safe, I pulled the bolt back and I heard rattling! Alarmed, I ejected the magazine and like 5 rounds spilled out and the rest was sitting at the bottom of the magazine. A total failure! I've never had a magazine do this to me. So... maybe it was the magazine? I labeled it as "bad" with some masking tape (that you use to tape up paper targets) and tried another magazine. SAME THING HAPPENED!
I had to take all 30 5.56 rounds out of a MAGPUL PMAG 30 magazine and that worked smooth as butter. So it's NOT the rifle or the ammo. AVOID!
