Q: How long is it? Can it be used in a carbine barrel?

A: Thanks for reaching out Jeff! This one's designed for a pistol-length barrel. Its long pull cord may make it long enough for convenient use with a carbine, but I can't guarantee your satisfaction. I regret that we haven't got the .35-.375 cal rifle-length barrel BoreSnake in stock for you at the moment, but its manufacturer's product code is 24018D in case you'd like to look elsewhere.

Q: Will this work on .40s&w?

A: No sir. The 40 S&W bullet is 0.400" in diameter (i.e. .40 caliber). This cleaning accessory is designed for firearms with bore diameters around 0.355". But I'm happy to say that we have got this product in exactly the caliber you would need to clean a 40 S&W handgun! luckygunner.com/bore-snake-40-41-24003-hoppes-1
