If you've heard of Wolf Performance Ammunition before, then you probably associate it with budget-priced, steel-cased pistol and rifle ammo from Russia. While that's usually the case, the Wolf label also includes some premium rimfire ammo, like this 22 long rifle target match load.
Unlike the Wolf center fire offerings, this 22 ammo is brass-cased and made in Germany. It features a plain lead round-nose bullet. And comes packaged in small boxes of 50 rounds each. The bulk pack contains 10 of these smaller boxes, for a total of 500 cartridges.
Most rimfire ammo uses some kind of protective lubricant on the bullet, usually a type of wax. Wolf Target Match, on the other hand, has a thin coat of some kind of oil on the bullet. This makes the ammo a little slippery and can make it slightly more difficult to load magazines, depending on how stiff the magazine's springs are.
But aside from this minor complaint, this ammo performed well above expectations. We fired a few hundred rounds through six different firearms, three pistols and three rifles. Reliability was exceptional, with no misfires, light primer strikes, or feeding and ejection failures in any of the test guns.
As impressive as the reliability was, the place this ammo really shines is in the accuracy department. We shot a 10-round group at 50 yards, using a Ruger 10/22 target rifle, on a bipod, with a fixed four power scope. With very little effort, we were able to get a group that measured just a hair over one inch.
For comparison, this is even better than the group we shot with the same rifle, using the respected CCI Mini-Mag ammo. There are plenty of less expensive .22 loads out there. But if accuracy is what you're going for, then this Wolf Target Match is one of the best factory rimfire loads available.

Lucky Gunner delivers the goods. Excellent service, prompt delivery and a fair price. Shot 100 rounds of Wolf match ammo and it was one tear on the target. Can't go wrong with this target ammo. I am going to order 1000 rounds while the price is right. (Posted on 9/5/12)Performance Value Quality - Excellent .22 Target Ammo Review by Jimsky

I bought 2000 rounds here for my wife and I for an Appleseed shoot. I typically shoot Blazer ammo at the range but I figured why not step up a bit for the Appleseed shoot... since it's all about accuracy. Well I did get my Marksman patch on the second day, I really do think this ammo helped. Great suff at a reasonable price, love it!Performance Value Quality

A local gun club has an infromal bench rest 22LR shoot and Wolf match is used by most of the top shooters. My Savage mark II shoots it better than anything else I've tried out of about 10 different brands of 22 ammo including 3 other match loads. Good stuff, good price, enough said. Also Lucky Gunner's service was very good. (Posted on 6/8/12)Quality Performance Value - Very very impressed and great value Review by Randy

Got to say I was very impressed with the ammo using my Ruger 10-22, in fact shot very tight groups consistently in all my 22 rifles I have used this ammo with. Got to say the price was right compared to what my local shops were selling the same 500 round box for. (Posted on 4/18/12)Performance Value Quality - Very impressed - great value. Review by WV Dave

Bought 500 rds and compared to the locally available and similarly priced green box Remington Sub-sonic, this Wolf Match grade consistently gives me much tighter groups with my Savage MKII TR @ 50 yds. Will be getting more. (Posted on 2/22/12)Performance Value Quality - Excellent Ammunition out to 200 yards Review by JakeB

This stuff is the only ammo in this price range that will consistently ring steel and print 5" and smaller groups at 200 yards. (Posted on 2/15/12)Performance Value Quality - Makes "affordable" guns shoot like "top shelf" guns Review by VaBob

50yd one hole groups are the norm for this ammo from my Mossberg 802 Varmint. Best group to date is .077 inch off of my porch rail with sandbags!! (Posted on 2/11/12)Performance Value Quality - One of the Best Review by David

I have a Ruger 10-22 that I modified with a Butler Creek camo Stock and camo heavy barrel with a match chamber, I changed the trigger to a Kidd 2 stage adjustable that now breaks at @4-6 ounces crisp. I also added the lever assist for the mag release.Performance Value Quality
This ammo will shoot groups measuring .311center to center @ 50yds. I haven't had enough time or ammo, (until now) to really work it out but I expect even better groups, if I do my part.
It feeds reliably and I have had no failure to feed issues.
The great service and fast shipping are a great asset, this company really does seek to please its customers and I fully intend to check here first for future purchases. (Posted on 2/6/12) - Good stuff Review by MustGoFaster

Short some the other day in a friends 10/22. Shoots way tighter groups consistently, for not a ton extra. Good stuff. (Posted on 8/2/11)Quality Performance Value - a great product for a serious target shooter. Review by Doctor Z

I get consistent 1" or better groups at 50 yards with a scoped Ruger 10/22T heavy barrel target model, sometimes 1/2" for three shots if the wind is calm, the light is just right, and I'm having a really good day.Performance Value Quality
This ammunition is actually manufactured by Lapua in their new German plant. Yes, Lapua, from Finland, that makes some of the very best target ammunition in the world. That Lapua. This is Lapua's .22 LR standard velocity solid round in Wolf brand packaging.
It's almost as good as the stuff Wolf sells as "Match Extra" (that's Lapua's .22 LR match ammo) but that's very hard to find in the US right now. (Posted on 5/7/11) - Outstanding! Review by REB13
