Frangible! The best type of bullet for slapping steel targets at close range. This 223 Rem ammo by Fiocchi is a must if you’re just as serious about training as you are safety!

This cartridge’s frangible projectile is made of compressed copper and tin powder. When it strikes a surface that is harder than itself, the frangible bullet is designed to disintegrate, leaving nothing behind but dust and small fragments. It is designed to not deflect small, jagged pieces of solid metal back toward the firing line, which makes this ammo significantly less risky for shooting steel gongs or silhouettes.

The frangible bullet is abnormally light at 45 grains. That is because it does not contain lead – an enormous benefit if you are training at an indoor range, and don’t wish to start scattering fine toxic particles into the poorly circulated air.

Some people reckon frangible bullets are a good choice for home defense because they’re less likely to overpenetrate. They’re not completely wrong, but take heed: This ammo’s bullets can in fact pass through multiple sheets of drywall. It offers no guaranteed reduced risk of overpenetration.

This ammo’s frangible bullets have unique nose profiles, so you’ll be able to easily tell them apart from normal FMJs. Despite their special bullets, these cartridges are loaded with conventional lead styphnate Boxer primers and new reloadable brass cases.
