Brent Maxwell ( Fri, 30 Mar 2012 03:02:06 +0000 ) : What diameter is the bullet?
Del Embree III ( Sat, 14 Apr 2012 05:00:44 +0000 ) : It's about .30 cal, It is really close to the 7.62x39. The 300 blackout is 7.62x35, the casing is just a little shorter. The subsonic is around 1100 f.p.s. While the 300 blackout super sonic is around 2200 f.p.s. or so. Can be shot from the standard ar-15 blot carrier.
Heidi At Lucky Gunner ( Sun, 22 Apr 2012 12:59:48 +0000 ) : It uses .308 diameter bullets just like the 308 winchester, 30-30, etc.
Heidi At Lucky Gunner ( Sun, 22 Apr 2012 13:04:59 +0000 ) : Del Embree III The 300 blackout is a really neat chambering for an AR! Lots of people like the 7.62x39mm AK round, but ARs chambered for it usually aren't reliable enough, because of the taper of the case. The 300 blackout is a solution to that problem. It basically has the same ballistics as the 7.62x39mm, but uses a 223 case that's been necked up to 30 caliber. This straighter case allows the blackout ammo to be used in standard 223/5.56 mags. Of course, the 300 blackout is great for sub-sonic loads to be used with a suppressor as well. In fact, to make a regular AR-15 use 300 blackout, all you really need is a new 30 caliber barrel! Everything else is compatible and will work with the blackout, because its case is so similar to the 223. However, most will probably just change out the upper, as it's easier and allows for quick caliber changes between 223/5.56 and 300 blackout.
