I’m 54 years old, US Army Vet, current law enforcement officer with a total of 36 years. I’ve shot just about everything the 40 has to offer and the 180 grain HST is #1 with me. Lots of power and expansion is incredible. I’ve had to use it a few times to put down stray aggressive dogs and one shot was an instant drop. Highly recommend the 180 grain version. It had larger expansion than the 165 grain. The 180 was also more accurate out of my firearms.

I compared the 8 pellet to the new 9 pellet and while the 8 is great the 9 pellet is even better. But I was happy with the price from Lucky Gunner and it shipped quickly. If you are looking for personal defense you will be happy with either the 8 but again, the new and improved with 9 pellets is even better.

Using a B-27 target, I fired these at 10 and 25 yards using a Beretta A300 Ultima Patrol with an Aimpoint ACRO P2 mounted via Reptilia Saddle mount. At 10 yards all pellets remained in the shot cup and left one large hole in the 10 ring (basically center punched the X like a slug). At 25 yards, I fired 5 rounds with all but 3 of the 40 pellets remaining inside of the 8 ring... 30 were inside of the 9 ring or better. The performance was everything it was touted to be. I also fired the same gun with a Federal Tru-ball slug and it was very accurate, center punching the target regularly. This is an amazing ammunition in my particular gun.

Non-reloader, and looking for very accurate factory .45 ammo. This is it. But...as noted, it can be challenging feeding an autoloader because of the short length and bullet geometry. If it cycles, and my RIA will do it if very clean, you can get 3 to 3.5" groups at 25 unsupported, better than anything else factory I've tried. Also recoils much less than 230 Golden Saber or HST. If it gets dirty, 3-pt jams ahoy.
Changing mags to a wadcutter type or to a 47-type may help. Hybrid types have not, so far.
TL,DR: buy a small box first and see if it will function. If it will, it's very accurate.
