The A-Frame features a fully bonded jacket and dual lead core. If you were to cut the A-Frame in half vertically, you would see how its jacket divides its core into rear and front sections. Its rear portion makes sure the bullet retains no less than 97 percent of its weight so it can enter deeply into its target; Its front portion enables its hollow point nose cavity to commence expansion up to 1.65 times the bullet’s original diameter.
The A-Frame is pretty much indestructible at velocities in excess of 3,000 fps. Since this round’s muzzle velocity is 1,170 fps out of a 6” barrel, bullet fragmentation simply isn’t a problem you’ll have to keep on your radar. The A-Frame also reliably expands at any velocity greater than 850 fps, which this round’s 0.143 ballistic coefficient delivers up until about 225 yards!
This round includes a nickel plated case to promote smoother extraction, as well as Federal’s own reliable primer and clean burning propellant. While Federal designed this ammo for hunting a range of medium to larger game, it would turn any 44 into a fearsome weapon for defense as well.
