This product is brass-cased, Boxer-primed, non-corrosive, and reloadable. It is both economical and precision manufactured by an established European (Italian) cartridge producer.
Fiocchi Ammo was established in 1872 by its founder Giulio Fiocchi. Known as a world leader is small gauge ammo, Fiocchi offers an array of products that suit the needs of target shooters, hunting enthusiasts, and the armed forces. Fiocchi's products range from ammo for rifles and pistols, to fire pin shotshells and cartridges, and a wide product line of rimfire and centrefire cartridges and cases. Outside of Italy, Fiocchi Ammo also has a presence in the U.S., Hungary, and Great Britain.
Fiocchi has received a number of awards for their undying focus on quality. Some of the awards that Fiocchi has achieved include the NATO AQAP-110 Certification, the ISO Certification of the Environment Management System, and the UNI EN ISO Certification of the Quality Management System.
Fiocchi Ammo is still entirely owned by the founder's family after being in business for over 130 years and the US operations is personally ran by Carlo Fiocchi himself!
Video Transcript:Fiocchi is an Italian company that's been making ammo since the 1870s. And it's still owned and operated by the Fiocchi family 130 years later. They offer products to customers all over the world, including several different loads for semi autos, revolvers, shotguns, and rifles. Fiocchi is one of the few companies whose products have been approved for use by NATO forces. And they've even won industry awards for their advanced manufacturing processes.
We had a chance to try out a couple of boxes of one of their 40 Smith & Wesson loads. It features a reloadable brass case with a noncorrosive primer. The bullet is a lead core with a traditional copper jacket and a flat point or TC for truncated cone which is how Fiocchi labels it.
Head stamps on the shell casings read GFL which are initials for the company's founder and the town where Fiocchi's Italian factory is located. However, some of their ammo, like this 40 Smith & Wesson load, is actually loaded here in the US at their location in Missouri.
To check the ammo for function and performance, we fired a couple of boxes from six different pistols. Recoil was average for 40 caliber and handled well in all of our test guns. We had no reliability problems and each round fed and ejected flawlessly.
To get an idea of what kind of accuracy this round is capable of, we shot a ten round group from the bench at 15 yards using a SIG P226. We got a nice, tight group hitting pretty close to the point of aim with one flyer there that went a little low and right. Fiocchi is one of the up and coming brands in the American market and I think they make some of the best hand gun loads available for practice and general range use.
