What’s the point of such short shotshells? Well, a couple of things. First off, you are going to notice truly low recoil when you fire this ammo. Its 5/8 ounce column of #7.5 lead shot and 1,200 fps muzzle velocity place this round’s dram equivalent at 2-1/4, which means you’re not going to feel very much kick when you squeeze the trig. Second, a shorter shell effectively expands a shotgun’s tube capacity. A tube that fits six 2-3/4” shells will fit ten Minishells. Check out our demonstration on YouTube to see for yourself!
Big caveat with this ammo: it won’t cycle in semi-automatic shotguns, and a pump-action may require some sort of modification before it can reliably cycle Minishells. As always, consult your firearm’s manufacturer or manual if you’re unsure!
