This round is outfitted with a 7/8 ounce rifled slug, which has an advertised muzzle velocity of 1,250 fps. That means its close-range striking energy is comparable to that of a 223 Rem, and that its potential recoil isn’t all that far off of a 20 Gauge trap load. In short, this ammo lets you deal excellent damage, and it doesn’t jerk your barrel very far off target while doing so.
This round’s short stature has an obvious advantage: higher magazine capacity. You can fit almost twice as many into a pump gun’s tube! Many pump-action shotguns do require some sort of upgrade before they can fire 1-3/4” shells, however, and semi-automatics are sadly uninvited to the short shell fiesta. (We call it a “fiesta” because these multi-purpose rounds are hecho en México.)
