Aguila is a Mexican ammo manufacturer that got fired up with Remington’s help back in 1961. They’ve long been on their own, and today are best known for their remarkably high quality 22 LR ammo. Aguila is far from a rimfire specialist, however. They’re the primary ammo supplier to the Mexican armed forces, and their shotgun ammo is good stuff as well!

This is target shooting ammo – arguably the worst kind of shotshell you could use for home defense because it is loaded with teeny tiny #8 shot pellets. At 1-1/8 ounces this shell’s shot column holds over 450 pellets, which translates to an extremely thick pattern that crumbles clay discs perfectly.

This shell’s shot is hard enough to resist flattening during ignition, and its wad is also engineered to reduce the kind of deformation that causes a pattern to thin out before it reaches its fast-moving target.

This “hencho en Mexico” ammo’s ribbed plastic hulls cycle reliably, and their primers and propellant mitigate residue accumulation. Try it out on smaller birds if you’re sick of playing trap or skeet – #8 shot leaves delicate trophies intact!
