At 0.08 inches in diameter a single pellet of #9 shot isn’t able to inflict very much damage. Why, just one of this shell’s shot pellets would exert only two ft lbs of energy at the muzzle! Even hunters going after the smallest birds probably wouldn’t use #9 shot for that very reason. But here’s this shot’s advantage: The tremendous number of pellets you can fit to a shell makes #9 shot simply excellent for skeet shooting.
