This shell is loaded with a one-ounce lead slug, with a 1,600 fps muzzle velocity that gives it approximately twice as much kinetic energy as an AR-15 bullet. The slug’s rifling simply helps it safely pass through a choke tube. But what’s really interesting is its segmentation.
Because the slug possesses multiple fault lines which strategically weaken it, it is able to fragment into three pieces shortly after penetrating soft tissue. Each fragment tracks its own individual wound channel, which makes the slug’s terminal ballistics even more effective at neutralizing a threat while simultaneously reducing the risk of overpenetration!
Winchester loads these self-defense rounds with high-brass heads and fluted plastic tubes, with slightly tapered nose profiles to promote smoother feeding in all makes and models of shotguns.
