This shell is loaded with 7/8 ounces of #8 shot. When fired through a properly patterned shotgun, such hard lead shot can destroy clays over a great range of distances. Between its relatively lightweight column of shot and its pretty standard muzzle velocity of 1,200 fps, this shell’s not set up to knock you on your keister with recoil. This shell’s wad is designed to collapse at a very consistent rate during ignition, further limiting recoil while helping to prevent deformation of the shot that could harm its accuracy.
That tight spread is also highly consistent courtesy of Rio’s carefully engineered primer and propellant formula. They are a subsidiary of the explosives industry giant MAXAM, after all, who loads more than 500 million shotshells for export to over one hundred countries annually. You’ll definitely want to save this shell’s translucent hull for reloading!
