Fiocchi’s Rubber Baton line of less-lethal shotgun ammunition is made for law enforcement professionals, but it is also available to the general public.

We want to make it extremely clear that this 12 Gauge slug is capable of killing its target. It is not a toy, and it must be treated with the same caution as the most powerful hunting load. However, because its slug is lightweight at approximately 0.17 ounces, loaded to an unusually low muzzle velocity of 740 fps, and made out of rubber instead of lead, it is poised to deliver far less damage to its target than the typical 12 Gauge projectile.

This slug has a muzzle energy of only 90 fps, which is less than the average 22 LR. The supple rubber it is made of is incapable of penetrating very deeply – if it penetrates at all. Police would use this ammo in situations where lethal force is not warranted, but incapacitation of the threat is still deemed necessary.

Be certain that this ammo is useless for hunting unless deer are unlawfully assembling somewhere. Do not fire this ammo at steel targets!
