This shell has a high muzzle velocity: 1,600 fps, which is why each 00 buck pellet has about 80% as much muzzle energy as a 9mm bullet. If you count all eight of its pellets together, this shell has about 640% as much muzzle energy as a 9mm bullet. There’s really not much more to say: anything taking the brunt of this round’s power is not coming out the better for it.
This is an eight-pellet shell – not the full nine – which is why its high muzzle velocity doesn’t spell out gargantuan recoil. Just the normal amount of recoil for a full-power double-aught shell.
