This shell is loaded with nine beads of #1 buckshot. A #1 buck pellet is 0.03” smaller in diameter than a 00 buck pellet, as well as 13.3 grains lighter. That’s why this shell’s shot column weighs 0.83 ounces instead of ~1.1 ounces. This shell’s muzzle velocity is also relatively low at 1,150 fps. As a result, the shell’s recoil energy is noticeably lower than a standard weight/standard velocity 00 buck load. That’s a great advantage to have during a home defense scenario when you want to fire as quickly and accurately as possible!
Please note that this low-recoil shell’s dram equivalent is approximately 2-1/2. That won’t matter if you’re firing a pump-action, but we can’t guarantee whether this ammo will cycle a semi-automatic. Consult your firearm’s manual or manufacturer if you’re uncertain.
