Waterfowl
Bismuth shot is denser and more effective at killing waterfowl than steel shot. But bismuth is also more expensive than steel, hence your hesitation to go all in on it. But what if we told you there were a way to split the difference: by firing 15% bismuth, 85% steel with every trigger pull? Then you’d have to believe us, because we have Hevi-Hammer 12 Gauge ammo in stock.
This shell is loaded with 1-1/4 ounces of #4 shot. The bottom layer is precision steel, which are fine shot pellets that would have proved perfectly serviceable for duck hunting on their own. The top layer is bismuth – another non-lead metal which is 23% denser than steel, and therefore (A) strikes harder when it’s traveling at the same velocity, and (B) conserves more momentum, thereby preserving its lethality farther downrange. Very nice. The fact that this 3” shell is loaded to a magnum force 1,500 fps muzzle velocity is even nicer.
