Hevi-Shot’s Hevi-Bismuth Waterfowl label 12 Gauge ammunition does away with old-fashioned steel shot in favor of bismuth. It’s not just nontoxic – it also boasts a density of 9.6 g/cc, which is 20% more dense than steel!

This long shell’s 1-1/2 ounce column of #4 shot tears out of the muzzle at 1,500 fps. Dense bismuth is able to retain more of that velocity over longer distances, so it’s due to strike a mallard with all the energy it needs to knock the bird clean out of the air. Bismuth shot is lethal to waterfowl, but it’s not remotely dangerous to vintage fixed choke or other classic shotguns. Take grandpa’s old side-by-side out for a spin – it can handle Hevi-Bismuth Waterfowl!
