This 3” shell is loaded with a heavy 1-5/8 ounce charge of #4 shot. It’s lead shot, to be more specific, which hasn’t got as high a density as the premium tungsten and bismuth pellets but still works great with the right choke and good aim. Those hardened shot pellets are suspended in polymer buffering material, which absorbs shock during ignition to help keep the pellets spherical enough to pattern densely. Remington’s Power Piston wad features a unique figure-8 column that enables it to compress on ignition, which further helps to prevent shot deformation while promoting lower-recoil performance.
