Just how devastating is this magnum 12 Gauge shotshell by Remington? Well, at 3” it’s able to store 15 pellets of 00 buck, which is nearly double what a shorter shell could manage. Each of those hard, 1/3” diameter lead balls weighs 53.8 grains – or about 1/8 ounces. A single pellet of this shell’s double-aught packs 179 ft lbs of energy upon leaving the muzzle. Multiply that power by 15 and you’ve got a shotshell capable of delivering very nearly as much combined energy as a 30-06 at close range!

This Ultimate Defense shell’s hard shot avoids deforming throughout ignition and penetration, so it remains tightly grouped together until it burrows deeply into its target. So many pellets deliver a very dense spread even over greater distances, so you’ll be able to clear out even the larger rooms in your house with ease. Recoil’s bound to be substantial, but your shoulder can take one for the team when the stakes are higher than ever before.

This shell’s black hull makes it easy to tell apart from your regular deer and bird hunting ammo, and its high brass head ensures proper engagement with your shotgun’s extraction mechanism. Remington’s snappy primer similarly does a good job engaging with a firing pin, and their propellant burns fast to push this shell’s wad cleanly down and out the barrel.
