This round features something unusual for the 22 LR: a true jacketed hollow point. The 32 grain bullet’s lead core is wrapped in a copper shell, which has a nose cavity and skiving to promote more reliable terminal expansion out of semi-auto pistols with 2.5 to 4” barrels.

The JHP is unwaxed to reduce fouling and ensure smoother feeding. It is also durable and fast-moving enough to penetrate to an effective depth for threat neutralization. (Note that CCI used a 4" barrel to record this round's muzzle velocity. Manufacturers typically record 22 LR muzzle velocities with significantly longer barrels, which is the only reason why this round's muzzle velocity appears low at first glance.)
