Customer Reviews - CCI Ammunition
Customer feedback on CCI ammunition is broadly positive, with many buyers highlighting its high reliability, consistent ignition, and minimal issues with feeding or extraction, even in finicky semi-auto pistols and rifles. Accuracy is widely mentioned as a strong point, with multiple users reporting good groupings in both target and hunting scenarios. Cleanliness is generally noted, especially with copper-plated variants, which tend to keep actions and barrels cleaner compared to other brands. While most consider CCI to be dependable and worth the price, some criticize its higher cost and mention recent price increases. Occasional criticisms include sporadic misfires or inconsistencies, particularly with certain lots or specific firearms, and limited cycling in some semi-autos with subsonic or low-velocity rounds. Overall, CCI is regarded as a top choice for .22 and rimfire ammunition.
I have used CCI Stinger for decades. In all that time I can never remember having a FTF or FTE. This ammo is as good as it gets for the average shooter. And yeah, it does cost a little more, until you calculate the cost of cheap ammo and the number of FTF rounds you paid for that did not work. My old Marlin 60, which is at least 35 years old, runs through this ammo as quickly as you can pull the trigger. It's Flawless performance. There are other good 22 rounds out there, but in my opinion and experience none of them come close to Stinger. It always amazes me why anybody would buy a nice gun, and then feed it cheap ammo whose dependability is questionable at best. Rimfire ammo is not as dependable as centerfire. The only way to even out that discrepancy is to buy the best rimfire ammo available. When you have your intended target in sight, and you pull the trigger, and your gun goes "click", you will quickly forget that you saved a couple pennies per round buying the cheap stuff.
Ran this ammo in a M&P 15-22 and a M&P compact 22 pistol. Both were suppressed with a Dead Air Mask. The cycling of the bolt and slide were louder than the round firing.
I was given 2 50 round boxes of this exact round, and let me tell you! After my first few shots, I actually forgot I was shooting my .22LR made by Rossi. Cheap / inexpensive rifle. I thought I was shooting one of my AR-15! The power! Accuracy! Time to travel to target, unbelievable! The best .22LR ammo you can use, it is clean firing as well! I am EX Military Police! I shot at an expert level in 1985, to 1988, and did not pick up another weapon until about 3 years ago. I rarely have any rounds land outside the 1 inch red dot in the middle of target. That is with every weapon I own from .22LR to, .9mm hand gun, AR-9, AR-12, AR-15, AK-47, Security 12 gauge pump shotgun. Take it from me, you will be hooked, as well as very Happy you tried this exect round.CCI-STINGER!!!!!! The best .22LR round on the market today.
First off, if you have an auto-loader, I swear by these. The round nose keeps them from jamming, and the copper plating keeps the barrel clean.
These cycle great out of many magazine fed pistols and rifles such as a 10/22 and a 21a, and many more.
I dont much pay mind to the price because the tradeoff is so good knowing it will be clean and go bang nearly every time. I could probably count the number of FTF on my fingers.
Great product, great website, great company.

The CCI Stinger is the original hyper-velocity .22 LR round, introduced in 1977. Using a longer case (0.710" vs standard 0.613") with a 32-grain copper-plated hollow point, the Stinger achieves muzzle velocities of approximately 1,640 fps—significantly faster than standard velocity .22 LR at around 1,070 fps.
Why are CCI primers considered the best?
CCI primers are known for their consistent sensitivity and reliable ignition across temperature extremes. They use a carefully controlled priming compound formula and precise manufacturing tolerances. Many competitive shooters and handloaders specifically seek out CCI primers for their reliability.
What is CCI Quiet-22?
CCI Quiet-22 is a .22 LR load designed to reduce noise by approximately 75% compared to standard velocity rounds. Using a 40-grain lead round nose bullet at about 710 fps, it operates below the speed of sound, eliminating the supersonic crack. Ideal for backyard pest control or noise-sensitive areas.
