Biathlon is an odd Winter Olympics sport that combines cross-country skiing with match shooting. It is one of the few Olympic sports in which alcohol is considered a performance enhancing drug, as it reduces the heart rate to steady the skier's hands when they pause to fire.

It is possible that you don’t compete in biathlon, but you’ll be able to have great fun with Eley’s Match Biathlon ammunition all the same. Loaded to a supersonic muzzle velocity of 1,160 fps, this 22 LR cartridge launches its 40 grain projectile along a flat enough trajectory to hit targets during any season. Eley’s lead flat nose bullet is intensely accurate, and it’s loaded in a brass case which is designed to apply constant pressure to the bullet throughout ignition in order to ensure highly consistent ballistic performance.

This ammo is specialized for cold weather, however, as its special “biathlon lubricant” facilitates chambering and extraction and even reduces wear to the barrel in frigid temperatures.
