Gold Dot Short Barrel ammunition is optimized for pistol barrels as short as 2”. Its brass cases are nickel-plated to reduce friction that might otherwise have hamstrung semi-automatic operation. Its primers are made by CCI, which is one of America’s most reputable authorities on rimfire tech. Its bullets are precision-formed to consistent dimensions and 40 grain weight, and backed by uniform charges of clean-burning smokeless.
Those bullets are true Gold Dots: jacketed hollow points with electrochemically bonded jackets. They’re as tough as they sound, and remain mostly intact as they cut through fabric and flesh. They’re also fine-tuned for terminal expansion at lower velocities (at 1,050 fps, this round’s advertised muzzle velocity is very much subsonic, although we have not determined the exact length of the short test barrel Speer utilized).
This round’s 40gr JHP has 0.117 G1 BC. If it attains 1,050 fps muzzle velocity, it’ll do the following:
0yds: 1,050 fps | 98 ft lbs | -0.2”
10yds: 1,029 fps | 94 ft lbs | 0.1”
20yds: 1,010 fps | 91 ft lbs | 0.0”
30yds: 992 fps | 87 ft lbs | -0.4”
40yds: 975 fps | 84 ft lbs | -1.2”
50yds: 960 fps | 82 ft lbs | -2.3”
