This cartridge is loaded with the 223 Rem’s standard 55 grain full metal jacket projectile. It’s completely nonmagnetic, so no worries about which ranges you can and cannot bring it to. It’s also completely incapable of terminal expansion, so while you could certainly use it to smack a squirrel or woodchuck right in its snot locker, it’s not the best of choices for home defense. But an FMJ like this will fragment apart into nasty little shrapnel pieces if it hits a varmint of the two-legged variety, making it a sound solution for forward-thinking preppers.
