Norma is very likely the only ammunition manufacturer named after an opera that will ever exist. The company arose during the early 1900s to supply the Swedish shooting movement, and spent the first half of the century largely focusing on the production of military ammunition. Today they serve the American market with a variety of cartridges.

This 223 Rem cartridge is Norma’s way of making certain Americans have what they need to train with their favorite rifles. With its 55 grain FMJ projectile and 3,240 fps muzzle velocity it performs interchangeably with the M193 round which the Army issues for field use with their M16A1 rifles. An FMJ is indisputably effective for self-defense, and indeed what all national armies use in combat – nevertheless, it won’t expand in soft tissue. It’s ideal for when you insist on reliable feeding and reduced bore fouling at the rifle range.

Norma’s brass is drawn, tapered, and cut accordingly to precise tolerances, so any magazine and any chamber should eat these rounds up just fine. Norma’s modern primers don’t funk up a rifle with corrosive residues, nor does their propellant burn up dirty.
