Not all Red Army Standard ammunition is for Russian firearms -- they also make cartridges that were invented right here in the good old USA. This 223 Rem cartridge features a 56 grain bullet with a full metal jacket, making it ideal for target practice when you don’t want to have to clean your bore as often. The bullet’s boat tail design gives it superior accuracy and a higher ballistic coefficient, and helps to guard it against the effects of crosswinds. An additional advantage to the boat tail is that, because it facilitates assembly, this cartridge was far less likely to have suffered little dings at its Russian factory that would have worsened its performance.

In true Russian fashion, this cartridge’s casing is made of steel and isn’t reloadable. It does sport a nice layer of lacquer to help it feed and extract smoothly, however, and the sealant around the bullet and primer guard against corrosion resulting from moisture.
