This Fiocchi Backwoods Hunter cartridge sports an excellent example of just such a bullet. The copper hollow point is a balanced and streamlined 150 grain thing – arguably too light for Roosevelt or Rocky Mountain, but good medicine for medium deer, black bear, coyote, hog, and anything else you hunt in that weight category. It’s a robustly built bullet to boot, and designed to widen out substantially as it rockets through living tissue.
Fiocchi used a 24” test barrel to record this round’s 0.370 G1 BC and 3,100 fps muzzle velocity. We did the math so you don’t have to! (Keep in mind that the following table is only a reasonable approximation of ballistic performance, which inevitably varies in the field).
0yds: 3,100 fps | 2,774 ft lbs | -1.5”
100yds: 2,839 fps | 2,327 ft lbs | 1.4”
