Recoil is an unfortunate side effect of physics. It makes shooting less comfortable for even the most substantially sized hunter, and extremely difficult for the lighter ones. Muzzle flip also greatly complicates follow-up shots, making it harder to compensate for a miss or drop two deer in rapid succession.

HSM can’t suspend the laws of physics in your favor, but they can still help you experience less recoil. Their Low Recoil 270 Win cartridge is designed to spare your shoulder from exaggerated kick, yet its bullet still weighs a normal 130 grains and is loaded to a conventional muzzle velocity of 2,318 fps!

The bullet is a natural hunter as well. Its orange polymer tip is certainly colored appropriately enough, and it serves to streamline the bullet so it can follow a flatter, tighter trajectory en route to a deer. The tip also promotes faster terminal expansion after it has snuggled up inside a buck’s waiting torso, throwing off fantastic energy as it fans out in all directions. You may not feel this round so much after you’ve fired it, but your future dinner sure will.

HSM loads this ammo in Montana right alongside the Idaho border. Their loading techs are artists who work in the mediums of bullets, brass, primers and propellant. Keep those cases once they’re empty and have a go at loading your own low recoil ammo back at home!
