Speer’s Gold Dot is one of the most popular defensive handgun bullets because it wears a concentric and unusually tough electrochemically bonded jacket. Speer’s Impact bullet features the same type of jacket, so it boasts the balance and durability that add up to high accuracy and deep penetration, respectively.
Its Uni-Cor bonded jacket is far from the Impact’s only blessing. It is also outfitted with the Slipstream tip, which is aerodynamic to an almost excessive degree and induces expansion at velocities up to 200 fps lower than competing designs.
Remington recorded the heavy, high-momentum 150 grain bullet’s G1 BC at 0.542 – way higher than any 130 grain bullet could manage, and indicative of the following performance out of a 24” rifle barrel:
0yds: 2,850 fps | 2,706 ft lbs | -1.5”
100yds: 2,680 fps | 2,393 ft lbs | 4.1”
200yds: 2,517 fps | 2,110 ft lbs | 4.8”
300yds: 2,359 fps | 1,854 ft lbs | 0.0”
400yds: 2,207 fps | 1,623 ft lbs | -11.0”
500yds: 2,061 fps | 1,415 ft lbs | -29.2”
600yds: 1,920 fps | 1,229 ft lbs | -55.6”
