This cartridge is loaded with a 100 grain HTP-style jacketed hollow point, which is symmetrically notched and otherwise optimized to undergo as much as double-diameter expansion. The bullet’s 1,235 fps muzzle velocity (out of Remington’s 4” test barrel) precedes 305 ft lbs striking energy at 25 yards; 277 ft lbs at 50; 255 at 75. That’s only to say that it has all the power it needs to efficiently neutralize a threat well beyond the range self-defense scenarios typically play out within.
