When a 300 Blackout bullet weighs 190 grains or more, you can be reasonably assured it’s subsonic. This round’s 205 grain specimen is no exception, as its advertised MV is a very tame 1,060 fps. Sound barrier: unbroken.
Its heavy bullet does a lot more for this round than make it subsonic. It also makes it accurate as a laser-guided missile (not really, but darn near close to it), because that bullet is a Sierra GameKing. It’s a hollow point boat tail much like the MatchKing (i.e. the most accomplished competition bullet of all time), and its formidable 0.245 G7 BC speaks to its high velocity retention and wind resistance. The GameKing is a good deal tougher than the MatchKing, however, and also delivers reliable expansion at velocities as tepid as 900 fps.
