Any rifle becomes a match rifle when it’s loaded with match-grade ammunition (within reason – there’s only so much you can do for some rifles). But if you’re ready to start grouping uncomfortably close shots with your 300 AAC Blackout rig, then HSM’s Montana-made Match loads are all you need to get started!

This round’s bullet is Sierra’s universally beloved MatchKing. First things first: The MatchKing is a hollow point boat tail, but it is not a good hunting or self-defense bullet as it will not expand as it penetrates its target. The MatchKing is designed exclusively for hair-splitting accuracy. Its jacket is drawn to a precise concentricity standard of ±0.0003 in max variation, and its nose cavity indicates that its core was poured into place so it could harden to become form-fitted. The MatchKing’s sleek jacket profile and ballistically efficient boat tail both complement its superior gyroscopic stability.

This is a heavy bullet. At 220 grains its muzzle velocity is a mere 1,000 fps – approximately 125 fps slower than the speed of sound. But that just means the bullet will avoid picking up a nasty wobble by not transitioning from super- to subsonic velocity!

HSM was founded by Bill Campbell in 1968. He is still their CEO, and a fellow named Travis Campbell is now their president. The family-owned company utilizes over 100 years of commercial loading experience to ensure each of these rounds possesses virtually identical brass cases, Boxer primers and propellant charges.
