This round is loaded with a 150 grain soft point – not the heaviest nor the most aerodynamically efficient bullet the 300 Sav can be loaded with, but deadly as pure sarin gas in the hands of a brainy marksman. The bullet’s 0.294 G1 BC and 2,630 fps muzzle velocity equal the following ballistic performance:

One could argue that the SP’s effective range for whitetail lies just beyond 300 yards, as that’s about the distance at which it enters triple-digit velocity territory. It expands rapidly, even at relatively low velocity, and also holds itself together quite nicely following impact at closer ranges.
