308 - New Unprimed Brass Casings - Armscor - 1000
I ordered this brass and within 3 days I had it at my home, outstanding couldnt ask for more. I inspected the brass and then loaded some up and shot it from my Ruger Precision 308 rifle. The brass loaded great and performance was better then expected, I would highly recommend this brass for the average as well as the expert shooter. At 100yrds I was hitting center tight grouping within half inch of each other dead center.
Good brass but some quirks
This is OK quality brass, however; it is thick and the case volume seems similar to 7.62 NATO, meaning that one should use quite a bit less powder charge than is typical of commercial .308 Win or the pressures may be too high. I verified this by measuring case capacity vs. 7.62 NATO and Lapua .308 brass. I also verified this by testing loads and my charges and velocities were almost the same as with 7.62 NATO brass. Charges were significantly less than that required in Lapua brass to reach the same velocity. Because the case necks are thick, this brass would not chamber in my .308 rifle that has match chamber dimensions. Should be OK in commercial chambers, but be aware of this issue before loading, perhaps make a dummy round and first check if it chambers in your firearm. The average thickness of this brass in the neck is about 0.0165" whereas typical Lapua case necks are around 0.0150". To get this brass to chamber in a match rifle I had to neck turn these cases down to about 0.0150" neck wall thickness. It is time consuming and more work than anticipated. Case weight variation is as anticipated for consumer brass, primer pockets appear uniform and primers seat with uniform pressure from case to case. I do not see discoloration on the necks typical of some annealing, so not sure if this brass was annealed. However, I found it to be fairly accurate. Only time will tell how it holds up to reloads. All in all, its OK brass for the price under current market shortage conditions.
