Allow me to explain why. That shiny TAC-XP bullet at the end of this Utah-made cartridge? It’s not made of marshmallow. It’s made of solid copper. A lead-free bullet like that isn’t just eco-friendly. It’s also extraordinarily tough – a testament to copper’s great ductility – and accordingly able to burst through barriers such as thick clothing without fragmenting significantly in the process. That’s why the TAC-XP can defeat barriers and still penetrate deeply.
Deep penetration is only the half of it. The TAC-XP also features interior serrations, which enable it to spread out six flat petals as it tunnels through flesh. These transfer jarring kinetic energy to the target and track a broad wound column through it. The 357 Mag’s brute power certainly doesn’t make the TAC-XP’s terminal performance any better for the target.
And although they don’t help their bullets hit any harder, these rounds benefit from their nickel-plated brass cases all the same. They guard against passive corrosion, and also help the cylinder empty out more quickly.
