We wanted to know exactly what happens to a self-defense handgun bullet on impact, so following FBI protocols, we fired five rounds of Sig 125 gr V-Crown from 10 feet, through four layers of cloth (to simulate clothing), into synthetic ballistic gelatin. The photos below show the bullets recovered from the gelatin after being fired from a Glock 31 pistol. There’s also a high speed video that shows the bullet impacting the gelatin block.
All the data we gathered pertaining to expansion and penetration of this load can be found in the chart below, and the diagrams at the bottom of the page show how it compares to other .357 Sig self-defense loads from our tests.
In addition to the .357 Sig Sig 125 gr V-Crown, we tested over 100 other self-defense loads, so check out Lucky Gunner Labs for the full story.

Review by Colonel.
I have carried and fired the sig .357 For over a year now. The Sig Pro P2022 is The ONLY modern firearm I carry, all others being revolvers. The round is superb. A bit more snappy than a .40 but not nearly as bad as a small 9mm. I have fired in extreme low light, and the low flash powder works fine, more flash from .357 magnum SW-66. Over all, at the end of the day.... if my family’s life is at stake, the Sig .357 comes along riding shotgun.

Sig Near Perfection
Review by RK New Hampshire
Growing up in an area surrounded by quality firearms manufacturers (S&W to the south and Ruger to the north) I can attest that everyone is truly striving for perfection but it is Sig that has approached that mark closer than anyone else. Not satisfied with building just a quality firearm the same professional approach can be seen in their ammo, optics, customer service and support. How many manufacturers do you know that offers a variety of world class survival and self defense training for both civilian and law enforcement on the premises? Check out their facility in Exeter, NH to understand not only why I admire their company approach to perfection but also why I ultimately rely on their products to protect myself and my family.

Excellent ammo, just like the sig fire arms.
Review by Poppy
I have been using 357sig ammo for 12 years, ever since we were given the weapons to carry. Sig 229's. We always believed in the round as one of the best, since we were carrying 357mags prior. BUT. We never had the Sig ammo. This is ammo is far superior to what we were using. Now retired, I still carry my Sig's in this caliber. Reason being it shoots flat, straight and hits hard. Very clean firing, recoil is a joy, hopefully they will make this round in 10mm, my other favorite round. Do I like Lucky gunner, yes, they are fast to fill an order and they have what I need. No Regrets.
