This cartridge has a 130 grain bullet. At that weight it reliably achieves an 800 fps muzzle velocity, although you can expect a snubnosed revolver to launch such a projectile slightly slower. There is no steel to be found in this bullet – it is comprised of a solid lead core and gilding metal jacket, neither of which are magnetic. The relatively weak 38 Special, when it has a non-expanding FMJ bullet, is not optimal for self-defense. Use this ammo to practice with, or treat it as a fallback when your JHP ammo supply has been exhausted.
Service Grade cases are made of virgin brass, straight as an arrow for smooth chambering in a cylinder and elastic enough to be reloaded several times. Non-corrosive primers and clean-burning propellant mean you won’t have to scour your revolver after finishing this box. Though its brown packaging gives Service Grade ammo a certain military look, this is not surplus.
