Many people consider the 38 Special a cartridge for their backup weapon only. Fair enough -- but you don’t want to learn how your backup weapon handles only after your primary weapon has run out of ammo. This box of fine ammo by Winchester offers just what you need to learn the ins and outs of your snubnosed revolver, and it’s ideal for any other weapon capable of chambering it as well.

This round has a 130 grain bullet, the same weight adopted by the U.S. Air Force in 1956. It’s a full metal jacket which forgoes terminal expansion in favor of a more cost-effective design that promotes smooth feeding and a clean barrel. The bullet’s level meplat leaves a clean hole through paper, and even complements the performance of a lever action like the Marlin 1894.

Handloaders have a particular fondness for 38 Special, and they’ll enjoy these rounds’ factory fresh brass casings. Winchester’s primer and propellant are both clean burning, so it will take more than this box of ammo to gum up a weapon with obstinate residues.
