This round’s bullet is a hard cast wadcutter. “Hard cast” means that the bullet is made out of lead that is alloyed with antimony, tin and silver. Whereas a lead bullet has a Brinell hardness of 4, this hard cast bullet’s Brinell hardness is 21. The benefit? Virtually zero barrel leading, which will conserve your revolver’s accuracy. On a side note, a hard cast bullet can’t deform as it penetrates soft tissue, which makes this 38 Special suboptimal for self-defense applications.

The wadcutter bullet is shaped like a cylinder. It’s not the most accurate profile a bullet can take, but its flat, circular tip does enable the bullet to cut a really clean hole through paper. That’s key if you’re trying to see just how tightly you’re grouping your shots – or if you’re scoring your shots!

This ammo is made in Utah. Doubletap exclusively loads new brass cases, noncorrosive Boxers and low-fouling powder.
