A: Thanks for reaching out Carmine! It's my understanding that Howell's drop-in conversion cylinder for the .36 cal Uberti 1851-1861 Navy only allows you to fire 38 Long Colt, not 38 Special. That said, Umberti says that the cylinder will also let you use any .38 cal lead bullet cartridge so long as the revovler's percussion barrel is lined from .375 bore to .357. This round definitely has a lead bullet, and its 700 fps muzzle velocity falls far below the cylinder's 850 fps threshold. So long as your barrel is lined correctly, you should be all set!

A: Well, this round's bullet hasn't got a gilding metal jacket, so you're going to notice more lead fouling than you would if you were firing FMJs. That said, Black Hills only selects premium components to load with at their South Dakota facility. These rounds' primers are totally non-corrosive, and their propellant is modern and super clean burning. I've actually asked Black Hills what kind of propellant blend they use, but that's a secret they're keeping really close to their chest!

A: Yes, you can safely fire .38 wadcutters in a .357 revolver
